FILM DIRECTORS | ALL THINGS JAPANESE

Akira Kurosawa (1910–1998) was an influential Japanese director and screenwriter who produced numerous masterpieces. This book is a catalogue of the exhibition that explores the creative processes behind Kurosawa's famous screenplays, such as ‘Seven Samurai’, as well as newly-discovered un-filmed scripts. From early in his career, he was influenced by the world's literary giants like Dostoevsky, Shakespeare, and Balzac, just to name a few. This book documents the research and exhibition developed by the National Film Archive of Japan in collaboration with the Kurosawa experts to highlight the director’s screenwriting abilities.
