City x Structure
|Author:||Jinsol Kim + TunTun|
City x Structure is the first publication of Jinsol Kim and TunTun exploring their local cities and the structures hidden within.
Jinsol Kim is a respected photographer based in Seoul, Korea working for clients such as Samsung, Typojanchi and many others. TunTun met Jinsol whilst living in Seoul, studying the typography of the nation, and has worked alongside occasionally, but the two mostly drank beer and soju, complaining about commercial life.
City x Structure is their first major artistic pursuit outside their commercial workings, sparked by the Seoul independent artist event - Unlimited Edition 8 -.
With TunTun returning home for a short period, the two decided to play with their long distance opportunity. The book explores differences, similarities, time and social nuances often overlooke in the city and their ensuing structures.
Whilst the photographs are taken purely on 35mm film, each month,the two would share their photographs as visual correspondence,much the same to sending a letter in the post. Shot between the time of August to November 2016, City x Structure is the outcome of dialogues, explorations and disseminations of the cities we live in.
Both big and small, they share more than you think.
Shot in Seoul and Melbourne
